8th Grade Promotion

Dear 8th Grade Parents/Guardians,

Hello!  8th grade promotion is right around the corner. June 10, 2024 (5pm) is the celebration honoring your child’s hard work and success in 8th grade.  We will promote our students from Wellpinit Middle School to Wellpinit High School at (5pm) in the MSHS gymnasium. We are so excited and proud to celebrate each students’ accomplishments and promotion into high school.

This promotion celebrates the last year of middle school for your child. It is meant to be a time to hold our students up high for the great learning done this year in preparation of their high school career.  

The requirements needed to participate in this celebration of learning are outlined below:

1.      Students must have completed their 8th grade classes completely (ie: Projects and Focus Areas)

2.     Students must be in good standing in regards to the state requirements of attendance by June 1st, 2024 (not considered “chronically absent”).

3.     Students must be passing each class according to our grading policy in the Wellpinit School District Student Handbook.

We are very proud of each and every student for his/her accomplishments this year.  All of the hard work and personal growth are valued.  These requirements listed above are only to participate in the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony on June 10, 2024. All student work must be completed and submitted no later than June 3rd.

Inclement Weather Procedure SY23-24

1. The Transportation Director and administration study the weather forecast daily to foresee any upcoming weather events.

STEP TWO

1.    The Transportation Director and administration consult the night before a forecasted severe weather event.

2.    The Transportation Director commences driving school district roads.

3.    The Transportation Director and administration consult Tribal Police and monitor county Road reports, Spokane news, and surrounding school districts to monitor conditions and status.

4. If the report is severe enough, the Transportation Director and administration will make the call as early as the night before or by 4:30 a.m.

5.   The Transportation Director may call County/Tribal Officials to inquire about the road clearing timeline/schedule.

STEP THREE

1.    School status decisions will be based on student, staff, and bus driver safety first and foremost.

2.    The decision may call for a 2-hour DELAY or SCHOOL CLOSURE based on the weather forecast for the day and/or road conditions.

3.    Decisions will be made before 6 am when at all possible to do so.

PLEASE NOTE:

·         Breakfast will not be served on a day with a 2-hour delay

·         “Snow Routes” may be used in unique circumstances

The Native Youth Community Project is looking for community members who would like to come into our schools to help support students. The time commitment, schedule, and activities are flexible, but could include things like helping in a classroom, sharing a story or activity, mentoring, or simply being a positive presence.

Please contact the school principals to discuss opportunities and compensation.
